The winners of the 37th annual AWARD Awards were announced tonight in a celebration of the most outstanding creative communications work in the Asia Pacific region.
Held at Carriageworks as part of Semi Permanent festival, the ceremony delivered 32 gold pencils, and awarded a further 102 silver and 135 bronze awards.
The award for Agency of the Year was presented to Y&R New Zealand, which also took home the most gold pencils of the evening, scoring nine across PR, Direct Marketing, Digital, Creative Innovation, Promotion & Experiential, and Branded Entertainment & Content.
M&C Saatchi followed with five gold awards across Film & Video, Direct Marketing, Promotion & Experiential, Branded Entertainment & Content and Digital. GPY&R Brisbane/Melbourne won four gold pencils across Direct marketing, Digital, Promotion & Experiential and Creativity for Good, while Clemenger BBDO Wellington, Colenso BBDO and DDB New Zealand each received three. One gold award was awarded to The Monkeys, FINCH, Leo Burnett Sydney, Clemenger BBDO Sydney and Ogilvy Beijing.
Network of the Year went to BBDO, Client of the Year was awarded to Burger King, and Production Company of the Year was presented to Revolver/Will O’Rourke for the second year in a row.
Best in Show was awarded to Y&R New Zealand for their McWhopper campaign for Burger King / Peace One Day.
Recognising the most prolific of entrants, Creative of the Year was awarded to Simon Vicars, Colenso BBDO for a second time – an award that considers those being credited across the most individual campaigns that won Bronze, Silver or Gold (including craft awards if that award is directly applicable to their craft).
Wilf Sweetland, Chairman of AWARD, said: “Congratulations to our long list of winners and finalists! For the second year running, 32 gold pencils have been awarded - a figure which bears testament to the outstanding level of talent in the Asia Pacific region. This is an exciting year for the AWARD Awards as we join forces with Semi Permanent festival of creativity and design for the first time, and we are delighted to be sharing such an impressive showcase of creative work from our industry.”
