Opening this weekend, the Sydney Museum of Words is the first of its kind. The show, set up by The Chaser's Charles Firth, has 'borrowed' a bunch of words from contributors around Australia and beyond, including Rupert Murdoch, Justin Bieber, Julian Assange, Vladmir Putin and more. As Charles says, "The idea is to encourage people to spend time reflecting on words outside of their every day use. We’re taking words out of their normal context." You can also submit your own words.
Visitors will have the option of a $5 audio tour app, guiding them through the exhibition and outside around either Kings Cross or Circular Quay, highlighting words they might not have noticed. Then of course there’s the gift shop, where you can get prints and postcards of words that take your fancy.
The exhibition will run for two weeks starting Saturday, 16th November in Sydney’s Potts Point. The public are invited to ‘nominate a word’ on the website.
