What were you doing before you applied for AWARD school?

Before I applied for AWARD School I was working as a designer at an ad agency. What prompted you to apply to the course? I always wanted to be an Art Director, and I was told AWARD School was the best way to achieve that in Australia. Friends and colleagues of mine had done it before me and inspired me to take part.

What are some of your AWARD School highlights?

There were a ton of highlights during AWARD School, it was such a positive learning experience. For me one of the main highlights was simply being around so many passionate and inspiring creatives. It really keeps you motivated. Seeing the different ways that everyone tackled the ideas was amazing. Being shown some of the world’s best work in weekly lectures was awe-inspiring.

You went on to take out Top Student - how did this achievement change your career?

Professionally it opened up a window of incredible opportunities, but personally, it helped instill more confidence in myself as a creative. Moving to San Francisco and getting to meet creatives over here has broadened my thinking on what’s possible.

Did you land your dream job right away?

Yeah, it really feels like that! Looking back before AWARD School, I would have never imagined I’d be in the position I am today, working overseas in San Francisco as an Art Director at Goodby Silverstein and Partners. It wouldn’t have been possible without this program. Fortunately, I feel like it prepared me really well and made it easier to be thrown in on huge projects and briefs.
